Aly Cook
High energy all the way…just like Aly! This is Country Music at it’s best and New Zealand has one hell of a Star to be proud of, and as one of her supporters, I couldn’t be happier!
Chip Martin and Paul Sparkes were the perfect marriage for Aly’s video, “Country Storm”, which is perfect for this up and coming Super Star!
Aly Cook is one of New Zealand’s most successful self-managed independent artists and when you look at her results in her short time on Sellaband.com, it’s easy to see why. She is a super-driven and incredibly hard-working Country artist who has taken the new Sellaband fund raising guidelines and turned them into a very successful business model. Her results speak for themselves…talent + High Energy + an entrepreneurial spirit = a rapid climb to the top!
As a native New Zealander, Aly has built a worldwide network of devoted fans and she has performed in Norway, the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe. Aly understands what it takes to become a successful artist in a very difficult profession and she never waivers as she pursues her goal.
Three of Aly’s singles, “I Wonder”, “Grow“, and “Country Storm”, have gained a great deal of attention, and deservedly so. “I Wonder” was played over the airwaves in NZ and was nominated for the New Zealand APRA Country Song of the Year in 2005 & her song “Grow” was chosen as a finalist in the MLT Songwriting Awards 2007. “Country Storm” is currently play listed on the Country Music Channel in Australia and has enjoyed airplay around the globe.
As a supporter and fan of Aly’s music, I am confident she has all the necessary ingredients to succeed and she has proven it on more than one platform. In fact, I was never that big of a Country Music fan…until I found Aly Cook and Katie Thompson. I can now say that I have “crossed over” to Country, thanks to their incredible music!
“I Wonder” was written while Aly was on tour working in administration with the Moscow Circus. She was in a Mack Truck with 15 horses in the back, traveling across the outback of Australia…they traveled by night because it was cooler and the sun was coming up, which is why the song starts out with “The stars were setting in the sky”. As Aly says, “we were just out of a place called Moree (where we rested up for the day) and when I started writing “I Wonder” … and then finished it on the 90 mile
Right from the beginning, “I Wonder” is full of enthusiasm and if you’ve followed Aly on The Kiwi Sofa or anywhere else, you would know that she loves horses…so I’m thinking, she’s in a Mack truck with 15 horses…hmmmm, do you think that had anything to do with the joy you hear in this song? There’s no denying the lyrics fit Aly’s personality and journey. Well, if the past 6 months are any indicator, Aly won’t have to wonder much longer…because from everything I’ve seen, her future is looking pretty darn bright! If you haven’t seen her video, please check it out and you’ll see the amazing entertainer that is Aly Cook. Not only does Aly sing with her heart, she plays guitar like no one’s business!
Aly is currently recording her next album; but until it is officially released, you can hear “Country Storm” and “I Wonder” on The Pack’s music player. Aly is a busy lady, but you can join her on the Kiwi Sofa each week on Saturdays in the US and UK, and on Sundays in Australia and New Zealand. The Kiwi Sofa viewership is growing each week and is the ONLY place you will be able to stay up-to-date with Aly’s album and the other things this remarkable woman does in her daily life. We’ll see you there!
