"The Pack"

Katie Thompson is a 23 year old singer/songwriter from the West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand.  Her music is described as ‘Kiwi’, roots, pop, and country.

Katie is no stranger to the stage or studio.  Her music can be heard on Sellaband.com, which is the very platform responsible for financing her next album with the backing of a worldwide audience.   Katie raised $50,000 USD on Sellaband and is in the planning stage of her next album.

Katie’s self-funded debut album “Tall Poppy” was released in May of 2009 with great country tunes such as “Monteith’s On Tap” and a cover of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues”.

Katie has appeared on the New Zealand Breakfast morning show, “Close Up & Nightline” with the help of Raboplus.  Monteith’s Brewing Company has also been helping spread Katie’s music by setting up gigs around New Zealand.

The introductory guitar really sets the stage for this incredible song, and then Katie joins in with vocals that fit like a well-made glove…soothing, comfortable, and warm.  Although subtle, the keyboards are the perfect compliment to this “dreamy” and beautiful melody.  It’s easy to picture Katie walking on a beach with a perfect setting sun as the back drop, as she sings…

Tears Me Down

As Katie states in her Blog on Sellaband, this song was written about Tall Poppy Syndrome and she did a very nice job in capturing the meaning through her lyrics and the guitars.  It’s simply a beautiful song.

Is it Ever Gonna Change

If you like acoustic guitar, this song opens with a beautiful strum and of course, Katie’s soothing vocals.  There’s definitely an emotional element that should tug at anyone’s heart who has experienced difficulties in a relationship.  Lovely melody Katie.
